A partial fitted by Tetting & Tetting, D.D.S.’s dental team is designed to effectively restore the function and appearance of multiple missing teeth. While the unit is made out of artificial materials that aren’t susceptible to tooth decay, it will still need to be included in your daily oral hygiene routine.
Many people with a partial find that denture adhesive helps secure the unit in place while preventing stray food particles from working their way between the base and the gums. If a few food particles do invade, you should thoroughly rinse them and any residual adhesive away. You can then reapply more denture adhesive to the clean surface.
You will also need to rinse away all residual denture adhesive, when you take your partial out at the end of the day. This will provide you with a clean, smooth surface to re-apply the denture adhesive the next morning.
You can then brush your partial with soft bristled toothbrush and denture polish to clean it of any residual plaque and food particles. Once it is completely clean, you should soak the partial overnight in water. Then store it in a safe place.
You should then go about brushing and flossing the rest of your natural teeth to prevent gum disease and future cavities.
If you have questions about the best way to clean and maintain your partial, you should call Tetting & Tetting, D.D.S.’s office in Appleton, Wisconsin at 920.739.9612 for a consultation.
